my trustry mz-r30 is no longer trusty. it seems the display and mode
buttons no longer work. i cant change from stereo to mono record mode with
the mode button. i cant change the display from time elapsed to time left

Did you try turning the unit off, and taking the batteries out, and leaving
for 30 seconds to a minute, putting them back in and turning on? Failing
that, see if there is a 'reset to factory defaults' option in the service
