Almost certainly a bad tire, especially since changing the pressure
makes a difference.
Check the tires from excess wear on one side of one tire -- if you have
differential tread wear on one tire, or worse, the tread "snakes" as

Messed with the cable some more this morning. Looks like I either
kinked the cable or broke the interior plastic sheathing at the engine
end. Tapped lightly on the lever inside the transmission with a rubber
mallet and got it to move, pulling the cable taut aginst the throttle

There is a fuel heater attached to the head (or block, I'm not sure
which) on the 60x engines. In cold weather, the fuel is pulled through
the heater to prevent waxing up the fuel filter. Won't help on cold
starts, of course, but it is nice.
