Haven't tried a steep slope, but the belts in my Benzes (at least the
newer ones) lock under firm to hard braking.
The system works -- I got T-boned in my 300D in September, and the belt
held for the impact, but reeled in normally when I released it to get
out of the car, in spite of the door p
Mmm timely, since I spent all afternoon replacing the rear seat belts
in my w140, so let me cross post this since it explains how Mercedes
manages the locking of the belt.
Last month I got a set of rear seat belts for my W140 sedan, dealer
had a garage sale where I bought a few dozen parts

Now. Imagine being as knowledgeable about Mercedes parts or Mercedes diesels as
Brian is about canine behavior and then have someone wonder if you know what
you are talking about.

When I haven't been able to drain the water from a pipe I'm soldering, I've
been able to get the soldering done by stuffing a piece of bread in the
pipe. The bread holds back the water enough to allow soldering, and is
easily flushedout when the water is turned back on.

Simple solution, Curt...
They sell a little metal box extender which is ridiculous. It's price and
also the fact that being metal it can come in contact with terminals on
devices..
Instead, buy one of the cheap plastic (I'm assuming it's a single gang
switch?) boxes. Mark it the exact depth that
The switch should have ears that fit over whatever wall is there, unless
the hole has been made too big, in which case just use something to shim
out the screws to where it is flush -- the screws are usually and inch
or more long so should be long enough.

You can use a wet/dry shopvac to pull out a few inches of water from a
filled pipe to get it to where you can get it hot enough to solder a
fitting on.

I don't have the book for the 617 engine, but:
Permatex - yes
Torque for 60x engines - 10NM or 7 ft. lb.
Anti-seize - Yes, hoping to prevent siezed then broken bolts next time
the water pump is replaced.

Maybe. This house is interesting, it appears to have been totally redone at
least twice.
All the plumbing is no more than 20 years old, some is considerably less than
that. The living room and master bedroom both have conventional drywall.
Kitchen and second bedroom both have paneling.

Probably plaster and lath. I just use long screws and some kind
of standoff. Washers, or a little chunk of wood, etc.

Certainly less than 10V is getting into bad territory. What
you really want to watch out for are voltage drops in the
cabling. Measure voltage between the center post of the battery

Might not be the battery, after all -- the starters do go bad once in a
while (about 200,000 miles or so, at least on the 603 engines).
You need to check the current draw while starting, should be no more

The 190D had a taillight out so I did a little sleuthing on that this morning.
I thought it might just be loose in the socket so before I did anything else I
took that pod out (right side) and cleaned the contact good. In fact that one

The light in our spare bedroom has been out since soon after we moved into the
house. My Dad suggested that since its on a dimmer switch I should replace the
switch. PITA since I had to shut down all power to the house since I have no
idea which badly labeled circuit that light is on.
Turns out
You might remember a couple months ago I started removing the showerstall from
my basement and I had a heck of a time getting the cold water line to it capped
off.
Well today I tackled the hot water side, I learned two things:
#1. It really is all about preparation. I made sure the pipes I was

'88 is newer than I'm used to, but AFAIK the 900 had inertia belts.
Pull fast, and they latch. Should unlatch if you take the pressure off
if that's the problem. Might also be a moving weight

In my new-to-me 1988 Saab 900 turbo, I've somehow managed to lock both
seatbelts (shoulder and lap) in the retracted position. Those quirky Swedes
haven't made it at all obvious how to unlock these belts. Anyone out there
got any suggestions?
I've already taken out the seat and removed the seat
the gassers have 4:00 or 4:11 rear ends, the diesels have something
like 3:23. Lotta low end performance, but 4500 vs 6600 choped the top
end off.
Factory six cylinders usually go 110-120 mph.
Must be something else wrong with it too, a stock 75/75 300D W115 will
do 95.
