Whats the fool proof test for the fan clutch?
When it doesn't work when it should, and _everything_
else has been eliminated. Most especially the air
directly behind the fan hub through the radiator has
to be hot, if you have a cold spot there of course

The illum control is post '86 126; 'finally found it in an addendum in back

There's a buggered hood hinge on my 1983 300TD and I thought the job of
replacing it would be easy. A guy I know who work does estimates for
a body
shop says it requires removal of both the hood AND the fender. Can
this be
true? By inspection it appears as if all the attaching hardware bolts
be normal for clock, radio, etc. - still uncertain about amount of
draw on fuse 2 and what is normal.
I'm thinking that something in the 20mA range will be
perfectly acceptable. I didn't seem to note down the
final current draw in the 560 SL once I'd cured the
major leak.

and cable many times; 'must have messed up something in both meters
since the first reading of 101 mA several days ago; can't get a
reading on 'em now; their fuses are not blown - continuity and voltage

I do caution against buying cars from people that insist you meet them
in a car park somewhere.
