Yeah but there is a difference in certain plastics vs. black
rubber hose. Then again since I'm not on city water anyway all I
have to worry about is the lead in the copper pipe joints. Too
much other man made garbage in the water anyway to worry about
what a few fish have done in it or for that
I believe it was W.C. Fields who publicized all the dirty deeds fish do in
water...but that was just an excuse to only drink more antiseptic stuff.

Or, have a loop of copper so that there is enough "give" to pull it out. That
is what I have behind the
refrigerator to feed the ice maker. There is a coil of copper line and more
than enough flex to permit me to pull
the refrigerator out so that I can get to the back of it.

The trick to not breaking the copper pipe BTW is to disconnect it
first before you try to move the dishwasher. Kind of late now I
realize but maybe next time.
You could add a piece to the old pipe by using

fittings. Buy a compression coupling to mate with whatever is on the
feed end and the line to the DW, and a compression fitting for the DW
