Yeah it was nasty. In Baltimore we got about 10. We had thundersnow for
several hours. It was building up on the hood as I drove and the wiper just
pushed it out of the way.
Interstate 83 was shut down for 11 hours.
It was heavy enough that you did not need snow shoes to keep from sinking

The newest F-16s (block 50) were designed in the late 80s, if that tells you
anything about the technology baseline.

Does whup whup whup in time with the car's speed sound like a wheel bearing?
I thought it might and as my wife and I both pointed to the right front of the

The bearings looked merely okay and as they had both

Wheel bearings usually make a grinding sound or a whining noise.
What you describe sounds more like a bad belt in your tire.

They can also run loose, allowing the tire to rotate off axis --

Aren't most planes more or less fly by hydraulic; there are cables/wires that
run from the stick to hydraulic control units at he various control surfaces...
With the F16, the stick is mounted on a couple of strain gauges; the computers
sit between the stick and the actuators at the control
Or a bad cv joint...
Or if it's only at speeds 10-15mph, it could be the leading edge of an
undercar plastic (sound) panel flapping and slapping the underside of the
car... Missing fasteners will cause that.

Doesn't matter, really, unless you can't, in which case it's foolish
to install new bearings. The race is shot if the bearings are bad,
no question about that.

I have a couple of large (1 dia/6 long) brass drifts. They are soft and can
be easily re-machined with hand tools for jobs such as this.
Save the old races - you can use them to drive the new ones in.

Replacing the race is easy, use the old one to tap the new one in. I like to
heat the hub first to help it slip in.
Getting the old race out can be a bitch. On my '85 190D I had to run a bead of
weld around the inside of the race. When the weld cooled it contracted and the
