Count your blessings. My windshield replacement on the '95 E300 started with a
quote for $235 but a previous bad installation caused corrosion which pushed
the
cost over $700.

I'd recommend finding a guy who will do it at your house and agrees with your
plan, and agree in advance on what he'll charge if you find rust, he goes away,
and then he returns to finish once you've got the rust fixed to your
satisfaction.

Only if it is geared right. Unless a 5 spd has an overdrive fifth,
or the vehicle has a lower ratio diff, you only go through more gears.
Most trans have the top gear 1:1 so the engine turns the same rpm at
a given road speed whether it is a 3, 4 or 5 speed. (unless the diff

tried using a generic windshield seal for which they wasted most of a day

Yeah but if the conversion was otherwise done well, worst case is you need to
find an unmolested OM617 to drop in. Should not be difficult.
Diesel is $4.00/gal here now, I expect the WVO/bioD interest to be picking back
up if that holds.

WVO makes me cringe... poor IP and injectors...
I'd say, get if you're ok with replacing motor.

The 2.2l 190Ds all have the same diff so the auto is quick off the line but

Hi Andrew,
I don't currently need a transmission. I was interested in B.Dikes
if it was an MB factory rebuilt. I might need one some day.
Thanks,
