Hi folks this is Bruce from way back. My fleet of 7 MB diesels has been long
retired (sure miss the W113) but I have introduced them to a good friend and am
helping him out.

The yellow material could be a bond coat [primer paint] to let the color
coat stick to the plastic bumper cover... weathered badly. Bumper seems
intact, so a sand and repaint should set it right... Have your local
automotive paint supply make up some spray cans of the car's color match...

Do what I did for a 2 ton Ford flatbed truck we had at a former business:
Get some 5/4 or thicker oak and let is be newly cut (wet) or soak it in water.
Cut it to fit the bed and bolt it down, then let it dry. Once it’s dried (and
shrunk a bit) soak it with paint or a good water sealer, like Wes

I hauled my daughters 95E320 back yesterday and when we were loading it the

I took off the old deck, mostly rotted. Hit the frame with the pressure washer

Pro tip:
Build an engine receiving cradle that will fit on a pallet jack. ie a
good solid wood pallet with blocks of wood screwed to it at the proper
locations to receive the engine. Then, when the engine cradle is

From my experience, I think you will find all the electrical and engine
controls will have quick disconnects.
In most cases, the steering and front end will come out with the engine
cradle so there will be a steering shaft and shifter disconnect points.

I’m thinking what I would do is disconnect everything up top, lift the car,
disconnect everything under, lower car onto jack stands, remove bolts for
subframe, lift car off engine. Trouble is, I suspect there is a ton of crap to
disconnect.

A subframe engine drop using your new car lift would be a cake walk...
Set jackstands under the subframe lift points, disconnect all plumbing and
electrical, then the attach bolts for subframe assembly Lift the car
off the engine.
Repeat in reverse to install replacement.

I read the whole series when it was new, and was disappointed with the later
books. Author bit off more than he could chew, I think.
Re-reading them a few years ago they came across as very adolescent.
The original movie was worthless, wrong director and butchered script. book is

Many years ago I attempted to watch that movie and couldn’t get past 10
minutes. The next day took another stab at it and ended up watching the whole
thing but can’t say it made any sense.
