I assume that "black death" is not readily visible without at least removing
the plastic engine cover? What would I look for?

I don't recall ever seeing a 280C in silver, nor dash wood in such pristine
condition. Mileage is suspect, but I expect bids will vault to $30 K
before all is said and done.

I agree with Dwight. If it’s something you think you really want, determine a
price you’re willing to pay and bid up to that. Who knows, you might end up
with a new (to you) car.

No recourse, sold as-is, where-is. It’s in the terms. They are just the service
that brings the parties together, the deal is ultimately between seller and
buyer. They have no exposure.

They are however a source of classic cars that may be difficult to find

Worst-case scenario, the oil cooler fittings are available as replacement

3-day lead times? What's that about? So even if you pay for expedited

Nicest 280S I have ever seen, in a very attractive dark blue/parchment.
Even the steering wheel is pristine. Hard to tell but if the dash and
heater levers are also good then this may be worth the asking price.

Could likely make a tranny cooler work or, lots of newer non Mercedes

That is unusual for them. Usually, stuff goes out the next day, at least that’s
been my experience.
Ordered crankshaft position sensor for the SL500 this morning from Amazon.
Couple bucks more than FCP but it will be here tomorrow.

Last Thursday I ordered a bunch of parts for the S550 to get it back
together. No notice it had been shipped. Sent them a msg this morning
asking where my stuff was. A few minutes ago I get a msg saying it had
been shipped.
Only took 6 days. I've never had that kind of issue with them
This is about as backwoods Jawja as one can get. Car actually doesn't
look that bad for the miles, probably something simple to deal with. I
wonder what would get it, not that I would go that far to do that.
