You da MAN!! The one time I attempted to tighten the castle-type lockring, the
whole electrical portion turned as well. I thought they were connected somehow
inside the pump, so you couldn't turn it without taking things apart inside. I
guess mine was just sticky and I needed to tinker

No need... the car already has ASD (the hydraulic, 100%-lock diff) and
they say
it has survived thus far. Seriously, they don't blow rear ends like popcorn,
like you'd think. I suspect it's because there's not a huge amount of torque
off-idle, which is where peak G's are on a V8 gasser,
