FWIW: My experience has been with bad Klima relays. YMMV. That
said, it is possible for the compressor RPM counter to fail in
various modes of failure.

On the flip side of that, since the voltage is out of spec/low, either the
sensor is bad OR the compressor is bad. If it's just the sensor, I still would
have mangled the wiring harness and would need a new one. The front of the
clutch IS rusty ARGH :)

Umm, yes.

ARGH, in my attempt to "check" the a/c RPM sensor, I have separated the rubber
seal/plug housing into about 20 different pieces. ARGH! Anyway, seems I
SHOULD have just unplugged it from on top of the compressor. Oh well, I'll
just condemn the compressor (and HOPE that it was bad and NOT spinn

The pickup is a coil hiding behind a thin aluminum wall
at the rear of the shaft. If the shaft had chewed its
way to the coil methinks it would no longer hold r
While it's off, spray the clutch gap with brake parts cleaner to get
any oil off, and check the gap (should be 0.5mm). If the clutch is
bad, or the coil is bad and the clutch isn't holding, the compressor
will not turn as fast as it should, and the KLIMA will kick it off
until the next pow
The clutch (when 5/7 jumped) was turning the same speed as the belt around it.
It doesn't make any odd noises when it's jumped/running How do I need to
check the compressor?

You need to find out why the compressor is turning so slowly. The
only other option is very high resistance wiring or the shaft
bearings are so bad they have allowed the shaft to contact the pickup.

The a/c voltage from the compressor RPM sensor is to low. It showed about
.03vac instead of the required .3vac. Measuring resistance gave me 620ohms,
which is within range. So, that leads me to belive that according to 1986.pdf,
starting at page 9 (found here: www.gulseth.net/benz/1986.pdf ),
