Today went to start her and panel lights went for a second, a click
noise
and all went out when it was in the ignition all right position.
Absolutely classic symptoms of a bad battery connection. Check
them all, both ends, grounds included.

Very likely problem. If that ground strap is loose, the current
usually returns via the shift or kickdown linkage, and causes problems
there, too.
Peter
Check the engine ground strap, down under the firewall attaches
above/side of the transmission. Mine went loose at one time, sorta
acted like that, with some occasional fireworks at cranking. (I'm
presuming the 240 is like the 300 in that regard)
