Ugh, the 126 is hideous, 116 is a fine motor machine.

SWMBA likes the lines of the 116. I will grant that it is a very well built
car and has a sense of engineering and style that project confidence all
around. They are truly tanks. Maybe it is the headlights that make me shy
away. A w116 with euro lamps looks a tad bit more proper than the bug
I find the DOT lights to be unfashionable and detract from the lines of the
cars. The w114/115 look much better with euro lights, as do the R113, the
W116, w123, and the w126. The round lamps make it look like a beady eyed
freak. The silly round lamps in the w210 are damn ugly too.

i'm also a 13 extra wide and was ok driving 108/109 cars for 10s of

Well guys, since I've owned a 116 (1980 300SD) for about 16-17 years, I can say
I am a fan of the 116s, or at least the last year model. My 1980 still has the
original engine, never had the head off, original IP, original exhaust...front
to rear, and almost everything else. I did replace the sea
Many people say that but in my opinion the W116 with euro bumpers is really
beautiful. It is sleeker looking than the W126.

There isn't much foot room at the pedals on the W108/109 either -- I
had trouble driving mine with my work boots on.

I like how they look, but I can't drive them safely. Not enough room
around the pedals for my big (size 13-4E) feet to move quickly. It's
weird--I've never had that problem with any other car but 116s and 107s.
i've never been a fan of 116s

I am having a hard time seeing the w116 as a collectors car. There are a
number of good examples, but somehow they miss the bus for sex appeal. The
W126 is much more exciting. Maybe I am seeing too many that have been thrashed
over 30-40 years with little thought for future use.

You can not give the dang things away. I have a headlight up on CL in
exceptional condition. Not a nibble or bite. Had it on fleabay for a few
months. No interest there either.

I actually think the DOT lights look good on the W116. Exception to the
rule I guess.

Got that already. Will be using it on my TD as soon as I get a
Left Euro headlight with the vac pod. I already have one for the
right. Or if I can find just the pod itself.
