Absolutely, and a stuck or shorted switch is the leading cause of failure to upshift. Funny that it won't go out of second, usually they stick in 1st. Make sure the shift linkage is correct as well, the kickdown cable works BACKWARDS on a 60x as a rule -- all the way OUT when "throttle" is

I don't think this person knows just which car he/she owns, but it won't shift past 2nd gear. The problem persisted with the replacement tranny. Did the 2.5L equipped W124 and W201 cars have kick-down switches that could stick like those on the W123's?? If the car is still available, I'm
