Every kickdown switch I've seen is under the pedal.
Our 190D 2.5 also has a dingus on top the engine, but
that's EGR related.

Yes, but if the second-third shift is above 55-60, they may be afraid to push
it that hard. I looked at the ad. Looks like a sweet deal for a grand.

Absolutely, and a stuck or shorted switch is the leading cause of
failure to upshift.
Funny that it won't go out of second, usually they stick in 1st.
Make sure the shift linkage is correct as well, the kickdown cable
works BACKWARDS on a 60x as a rule -- all the way OUT when "throttle"
is
2.5L equipped W124 and W201 cars have kick-down switches that could
stick like those on the W123's?
Pretty sure they do.

I don't think this person knows just which car he/she owns, but it won't shift
past 2nd gear. The problem persisted with the replacement tranny. Did the
2.5L equipped W124 and W201 cars have kick-down switches that could stick like
those on the W123's?? If the car is still available, I'm
