The glow light is not coming on so it’s almost certainly a glow issue.

that car (300D 2.5T) will start without glow.

If you define prematurely as immediately. 30A will barely run _one_ glow plug,
if cold.
In a pinch, I've used wire from CAT5 cable. As many strands in parallel as it
takes to
survive a co
I wager it is the GP relay.

I tried for a few seconds but no luck. I didn’t try super hard.

An OM60x ought to start without glow plugs if it's reasonably warm. Did you let
it crank for a couple seconds?
That '78 240D that had been Dwight's absolutely would not start without glow
but all my 190Ds would...

Turn on the ignition switch and look/listen for the relay to close. Put a volt
meter on a GP and see if it gets electrons.

OK looking at more photos, the OE part does not have the fuse trip but the OEM
part made by Hella does. So how do I check if the relay is bad? Or can I just
assume that it is for lack of another possible explanation?

I just pulled the cover off the gp relay and I don’t see a strip fuse. The
pictures on line of the correct part all show a fuse strip. What’s going on
here?

The 2.5 relay does not have a strip fuse like the older ones. You either had
some dead plugs, or the relay is read. Simple test to test the plugs to see if
they are bad

So after some more research, I think I may have replaced another strip fuse-
one perhaps for the hvac. It sits in a little box on the left strut tower and I
think it’s 30 amps. That’s what I bought from advance auto (30 amps). I believe
the glow plug relay strip fuse is located in the glow plug
if I recall correctly I had that issue with that car. I do remember
changing the relay at least once

The 1990 300D 2.5 Turbo would not start this morning. I suspected it wouldn’t
as the glow plug light did not illuminate. I inspected the glow plug strip fuse
which looked fine, but as we all know it can look fine but be cracked so I
lightly pushed on it and sure enough it was cracked - or perhap
