Sounds like a good choice. I think the evaporators in 123 cars are much more
robust than the 124 cars? Condenser is easy to change if needed. New hoses
would probably be a good idea with the new compressor, don't forget that a new
receiver / drier is a must once the system has been open.

Thanks, Max. I am willing to put some money into this 240D since it has such
nice paint and runs so well. It would be nice to have working AC in it. With
AC, a new modulator!or adjustment, engine mounts which I have, a new
winsshield, a reconditioned driver’s seat, and restoring the rear seat pl
Kevin, to pressure test the remaining AC components, you would need to
fabricate a manifold of some kind to make a seal at the open connections. It
would probably be easier to install a compressor and whatever else is missing,
and then test the system. Not a cheap proposition either way.

My late '81 has power windows and manual two-zone heater. I think
there is a factor AC control - but the AC was never working so

Nope. My late '81 has no sunroof, power windows, and seems to be
half early style and

My 1977 Saab was even nicer.
Instead of twisting a handle, shoving the handle forward and back unlatched and
moved the sunroof with one motion. And there was a little wind spoiler that
popped up at the front when you opened it (I think my W116 has the spoiler too)

Agreed, I've always liked the manual sunroof, MB really missed out by making
so many of them electric.

My 1979 300TD had a manual sunroof, the only one I ever liked in any of my
cars. The ability to just grab that “T” handle, twist and move it, made it easy
to use and dead nuts simple. No motor, cable, switch, etc.
Sometimes simple is the best…

My 79 240D had crank windows but an electric sunroof. When I got it the
sunroof button had a dymo label on it saying "inop" so I never tried it. I
don't like sliding sunroofs anyway. I love the tilts like my 124 & 211.

Most 240Ds have manual windows with optional manual sunroof. Power windows
were optional, but not common. Except in 1983... most of these cars seem
to have power window and power sunroof. I don't know if they were standard

Ones put on stealer lots by MBNA were all auto trans and "Lektrick

seeing it in person and knowing some history. But, here is what I do know.
