My 86 300SDL has a Denso 10P15C a/c compressor. I've found various
configurations of this compressor ranging in price from $35 to over $500.

as far as the difference, I do not know. I think it all has to do with
what pulley it has on it, if it has a speed sensor in the back, and what
manifold connections it has on top. This part can be swapped, it just
bolts on to the compressor. As far as rusty, they are not going to be

You may also have to swap the rear housing to get the speed sensor,
most applications did not use it. Easy enough, although it will void
any warrenty on a new a re-built one.

The ports are on a removable plate, so you should be able to swap your fittings

didn't even come with the port housing, had to remove a cover plate, throw it
away, and bolt up the port housing that came with the car

That $4k sounds good if the car is in good condition for your
tastes. I paid $3k for the POS SDL and it was not worth that, but
seems that $3k is the lower limits for a running SDL on eBay.

I have to get one someday. I have literally wanted a 140 300SD for over
10 years. Lets put it this way, when I was really on the serious look
for them (but never bought one) they were selling for about 36k still.
Years later got my 93 300SE but it just was not the same as the diesels.

Howdy,
Found a subject car - silver, 200K, all records, engine, tranny, AC all
in very good condition. Needs detailing and a couple very small tears in
the seats. Sheepskins on the front seats so couldn;t seee them very well -
tires and wheels good except the wheels are chromed (Yuck)

also, it's what you replace (or what's under it) if your tach is dead.
