I had a bad head
in the white
smokescreen though... That car would even hydro-lock if you left the radiator
cap on when you parked it...

Replace the radiator cap. These engines burp badly with no
pressurization, and if you have a bad cap, it's gonna belch coolant when
shut off hot
Just switched cap from the 87 300D; 'try it this afternoon.

Watch for white smoke on startup
Try a new pressure cap. Or swap the one from the 300D for a few days
and see if it changes.
I've looked; 'haven't noticed any white smoke yet.

For several days (week and a half), I've had to put some (quart to half gallon)
water in the 350SDL's radiator tank after driving 6 or 8 miles. 'Can't find
any drips; no wetness on outside of radiator or engine; no wetness on
underside; oil looks OK/normal. Car runs great; plenty power; no

Exhaust, carpet, and tranny (via a cracked oil to water transmission cooler)
would be my guesses.

Watch for white smoke on startup -- when cold, the water in the

Check for cold pressure in the coolant tank, also traces of oil

1. Had similar problem. Everything checked out. Put new radiator cap on. End
of problem.
2. Same problem on another car. Everything checked out. Opened hood after
long run and pushed on fan blade. Stream of water shot out of water pump.

Replace the radiator cap. These engines burp badly with no
pressurization, and if you have a bad cap, it's gonna belch coolant
when shut off hot, only for a few minutes. the overflow tank will
get too full because there is no suction back into the reservoir due
to the bad cap, and you
