Well - I would guess that the difference there is that Haiti is third
world poor nation, whereas Brisbane is quite modern and financially
viable?

Along with other countries the American government have offered to help
in any way they can.
The people of Queensland will be grateful for any help they can get -
last reports were that the 70 cities & towns have been affected, there
have been 15 deaths, 61 people are still unaccounted
I saw this clip on the news last night, a guy, his wife, and their child
in a shelter. I was sorta amazed in that they looked like a typical
merkin goober couple these days, she quite hefty, he somewhat skinny
like a heavy smoker or meth head (or both). The woman did all the
speaking, the guy
I realize there is a difference in "world status", but the media was all
over the "donate anything you can!" angle with Haiti, and it just seems odd
that I've not heard a peep in regards to this.
I'm glad that there is an offer on the table though, it strengthens my small
belife that we as a count

the flood situation got bad & was starting to spread through the state.

far from over. The normal wet period lasts until March so there are

area of Australia are often considered somewhat "rustic" so will likely
