I finally got to look at the brake lights - the third brake light in
the rear window is burnt out!
When the car comes back I'll change it and see if the bomb warning turns off.

I was wondering if the Booth Purge should be expanded to include
changing ALL bulbs.

My 500SEL had a 7w bulb in the third light instead of the proper 20w
bulb, which was enough under certain conditions (not always) to
trigger the bulb sensor.
Check them all, and also check for proper watts, and perhaps make
(OSRAM?) or are those improper 1157 USA bulbs? Plus of course corrosi
Actually, she is running Mobil1 now - but I will draw a sample for
analysis tomorrow ;-)
Removing the bulb behind the bomb icon should fix that computer
though! Teach it to holler at me - yank it's tongue out!

you were using the brakes at the moment or not. I'll start there!

When just the running light was out, the bomb light only came on when
the headlights were on, so I assumed (and we know what that stands
for) that something had to be on, or it was yelling at me. I never
thought about the brake lights - will check them in the AM.

Nope. You still have a light not working. Could be the third brake light or
something that only comes on when used. This system is pretty sensitive (
like the wife ) and will pick up on anything wrong.
