Sure. I know peole who won't use anything but distilled, for exactly
the reasons you mention.

I think Marshall's argument was that the coolant is designed to the correct pH
when mixed with tap water...something about buffering...and if you used
distilled water, it would not balance right.
I don't want to put words in his mouth, but I think that was what he said.
Apologies to Marshall
Mix them if you have hard water, that will limit the minerals and not be as bad
as distilled..

Marshal gave us a detailed analysis of why not (or was it distilled
water?) a while back. I don't remember the details, but I think it
came down to 'if it's safe to drink, it's OK for the car'. If in
doubt, the bottled drinking water sounds like a very good solution.

Same issue here Hendrik, although our high mineral content with
natural hot water is great for the pools. For that reason, I use
store bought drinking water for my radiators and batteries. Read
somewhere not to use demineralized water.

While we are talking cool juice, is it alright to use demineralised water in
conjuntion with coolant? The tap water in Adelaide is notoriously full of
all sorts of crap, I'd drink it but am worried it will leave all sorts of
stuff in the cooling system.
