The easiest way to tell is if it has the S/W switch by the shifter
it is electronic, if it does not, it is old fashioned.

If it’s a late 96 it could very well have the electronic tranny. Get a VIN and
we can check for sure.

between MY 95 and MY 96.
$200 and a couple hours of work and it will be driving just fine, I’ll bet.
Wait and see what the others say, as I haven’t done much with transmissions on
W140s, but I’m willing to bet it’s a bad
