Just a demonstration of Chinese quality control in action.
If you have to use cheap drill bits, sharpen them properly with the correct
angles and center point, then ALWAYS use cutting fluid, to ease the loading
on the drill..

I bought one set of TiN coated HF bits that I swear were so soft that the
flutes unwound a bit when they grabbed in whatever I was drilling, just
before they kinked in the middle. Didn't break. That's quality!

I've got a small set of Cle-Line drill bits. A small set that was more
expensive than every other drill bit I've ever bought put together. They're
excellent and have easily gone through anything I've asked.

I've got some old Vermont Americans that can drill out a grade 8 bolt,
after the bolt laughs at my 20 year old TiN coated Pittsburgs. I don't
know if the new ones are better or worse than the set I bought back
then. I think I paid around $30 for the 29pc set.

My more recent Harbor Freight purchases have been excellent. It even seems the
Chinesium stank is gone from there...

I bought the large set with numbered bits as well - they are junk for the
most part in steel. The number 30 and 40 bits are used for rivets in
aluminum - they didn't last very long, even in the Al. Won't do that again

Exactly. I bought them for random use around the northern homestead, and my
expectations are low. I’ve drilled some soft wood and drywall so far and they
worked great.

I knew a woman who asserted that General Tso was her (great?)grandfather
or something. She seemed to know a lot about him and the dish.
I have those drill bits too, they work fine for random use. I haven't
done anything too difficult with them. I think I paid $9 for my set a

Don't know about those but would be interested to hear your experience.
I have found that some HF stuff is complete junk, but other stuff is
quite a good value.
I've been very satisfied with their "Pittsburgh" brand sockets,
wrenches, and screwdrivers.

I bought a set for the second home. While I haven’t drilled any metal with them

I bought the 29 piece Harbor Freight Titanium drill bit set for about $11.
Wondering what I can expect from these drill bits, with particular reference
to their performance in cutting metal.
