Talked to seller on the phone after spending time with the 1992 E400 yesterday and struck a deal.  After speaking with our resident expert and doing a bit of research I think I have a sense of what needs to be done to the car so eyes wide shut!  I will go fetch it next week sometime. Running

Nice! I took at class at an art colony (The Steel Yard in Providence) one time. It improved my welding a bunch. Having an expert look over your shoulder and make suggestions was very helpful. Art welding was actually more useful than I expected, we welded mostly rusty (read "free") junk which

Thanks, I need to look and see where the pump(s) are on the car and listen once I see if the fuse is OK.  I was also thinking of ignition and seeing if it would light off with some carb cleaner.  There is probably a fuse for the ignition too, will have to look at that. I suppose I should

Shot of carb cleaner down the intake while cranking will tell you if it's fuel or not, should fire if the ignition is working and nothing horrible like a broken camshaft is preventing it from running. Listen for the fuel pump running a few seconds when you switch the ignition on too, not

Went to look at this 97E420. Max met me there on his lunch brake. Fairly clean, interior pretty good, clear coat was pretty bad but body straight. Tires on pimp rims flat but had good tread, will probably pump up ok. Put in a battery, cranked but wouldn’t fire. 1/2 tank of gas but has been
