Have you tried looking in a local car parts store for a block heater
that fits in a freeze plug hole? That might be the way to go. Should
cost less that the Mercedes version and if there are no threads in the
hole when you take the plug out no big deal. If there are threads still
no big deal.

Just use a transformer. It's only 400W, those aren't all
that expensive. Use the US cord so you can't make a mistake,
plug it into the conversion transformer.

The US has 220V center-tapped, but I don't think anybody
else does.

It's 19mm (or 3/4") on the ones I've done. There are 2-3 of
these plugs in the 220D-type motors.

That looks like it to me. Don't know why I don't see a heater loop sticking
out of
Now that you mention it - my first MB, a '70 220D, had a heater in the
heater hose - so you turned cabin heat on full, opened both the floor
and defroster vents, plugged it in at night. The windshield would be
mostly clear when all others in the neighborhood were frosted over.

That's the solution. Way back in the middle of the last century
when I was in Germany, transformers worked on all sorts of 110/120V
stuff except clocks.. 50 cycles vs 60 cycles.
The modern world has an entirely different definition of a
"transformer".. Please save us from
I found that Mobil 1 eliminated the need for a block heater - down to 0F anyway.

Loosely speaking, down by the starter. There is a threaded plug in the hole
if there is no heater in it. I believe it requires a 19mm hex bit on a
three meter long handle to remove. (very hard to turn)
