I'm equally impressed with the DSG tranny - really cool technology that's transparent unless you play with the shifter. On Mon, Jul 23, 2012 at 3:39 PM, Alex Chamberlain wrote: > On Jul 22, 2012 6:58 PM, "OK Don" wrote: > > > > AMEN Brothr! That was one of my > > gripes - no 4Motion with the TD

DSG = direct shift transmission. It's a dual clutch electronically controlled manual transmission. You can drive it like an automatic, or flick the shifter sideways and its like a very fast standard. On Jul 23, 2012 7:07 PM, "Craig" wrote: > On Mon, 23 Jul 2012 18:56:09 -0500 OK Don wrote: > > >

Exactly - that's why I bought a new one, to take reasonalbe care of it, and see how long it will last. There is a 50k or 60k maintenance point where the tranny fluid (whatever it is) is replaced. I've read that the clutch plates typically need to be replaced between 70k and 100k miles. I expect thi

Seems like the weak link in the CVT would be the cones and belts if that's what they're still using. Depending on how accessible they are, the CVT might be easier and cheaper to fix than the DSG for a DIYer. Gerry On Jul 25, 2012 1:43 PM, "Scott Ritchey" wrote: Just thinking about what's
