Yeah, BTDT.
An assembly is warrented at that milage, as the shocks probably
aren't much good anymore. I've had a spring compressor come off a
strut while changing the shock, I do NOT recommend this ( I was
lucky, I suppose, as I ALWAYS keep body parts away from potential
pinch points --

When my Taurus did that, it went more like "scrape, scrape, hiss" as the end
if the spring went through the sidewall of my new RF tire. A couple of months
later, the LF spring

Struts were original and at 115K miles, decided to just put in new
"quick struts" on both sides (strut and spring assembly) rather than try
to replace the spring by itself.

Drove it today, it is like a loud clicking when turning, basically silent going
straight ahead but also will click or pop on a bump.

In fact, I have never even seen an inner fail myself. This dealing with
FWD gm cars. In the case where the boot splits and the outer joint
fails, its easier and better to just replace the whole axle.

That's what an outer front CV joint sounds like. Klatta, klatta, klatta.
Inners are more likely to show up as vibration instead of noise, and have little
to do with steering
If it was a cv joint, it would be a clank clank clank sound while
turning, regardless of bump.

I'm thinking CV joint, though at a glance the boots loo

a reach to change them, but did not do anything but alter the severity of the
vibration.

only cv if happens while accelerating. My experience with these little cars
- depending on mileage, is sway bar conecting ball joints.

Wife reports that there is a "popping" sound from the right front of the car,
manifests when turning or going over a bump.
I'm thinking CV joint, though at a glance the boots look intact. I'll crawl
under there tonight and have a good look around -- other ideas?
