Yeah, BTDT. An assembly is warrented at that milage, as the shocks probably aren't much good anymore. I've had a spring compressor come off a strut while changing the shock, I do NOT recommend this ( I was lucky, I suppose, as I ALWAYS keep body parts away from potential pinch points --

For those who were interested, this turned out to be a broken coil spring on the right strut. Struts were original and at 115K miles, decided to just put in new "quick struts" on both sides (strut and spring assembly) rather than try to replace the spring by itself. Allan On Mon, 13 Jul 2009 2
