The Audi section of www.buyeuroparts.com hasn't worked for weeks, now. I
can select the year and model, then it goes to some lame nondescript,
testimonials page. No parts or nuthin -- WTF?

The hot wire for the dash buss is probably connected to the alternator
with the charging wire. On the Benz it's on the starter where the
battery cable goes, so you might check there, too -- they tend to slip
up inside the cover and don't get connected.
