I think I'll open my old relay to see if I see any obvious problems -
the old one has a single 10a fuse while the new one has 2 - 10A fuses -
not sure why the new one has 2 circuits that need protection? But the
problem was fixed quickly and easily thanks to Peter ;-)

Idle speed control goes too, I think. I need to replace the OVP relay
on my 300D, hopefully that will fix the idle problems. There are
several circuits, and they may not all be bad at the same time.

Peter - Just wanted to thank you for the great diagnosis you made - you
were exactly correct! Replaced the OPR and things are back to normal -
especially appreciated in these 90F+/95%RH days when the AC dropped out!
BTW, the obvious things affected were the ABS, tacho and AC - are there

Thanks Peter - I'll have to look to the manual to find its location --
didn't know I had a OPR until now. ;-)

Oh, yeah, that's one of the things that should be on my

Replace the Overvoltage Protection Relay, this is the usual cause of
all those things.
It may be as simple as the fuse on top of the relay being cracked, or
the solder at the relay connections, but sometimes they are just bad.

I would pull the cluster and carefully clean all of the connections, especially
the grounds (brown wire).

My normally reliable W124 300D has one of those problems that are always
hard to find & fix! It's intermittent, it's electrical and it involves
more than one system.
When driving the ABS warning light will come on. It has done this for a
