story short the trailer ain't getting out of the shop today.

I'd just buy a new axle/brakes/hubs assembly, and keep the stuff from the other
side of the old one for spares.

I will go hunt one down tomorrow. I think the local farm store sells them.
Should not take more than 20-30 minutes to swap out.
