That's not a dirty switch. The same electronic flasher is used for either
2-corner (normal) or 4-corner (hazard) functions. These things detect
an under-loaded condition (1-corner) if a bulb is burnt out, and flash
faster.

Is the hazard function working properly? Same flasher, IIRC.
Hazard switch can get dirty, did you touch it lately?

That I don’t recall, but if it’s not being used regularly, that is, the hazard
switch, it can cause issues with the flashing function, which is a part of the
switch function itself.
I’ll hold back on my thoughts from there and defer to Jim.

Yes, is this the fix where one pushes that button 100 times?

We’re both getting at the source of the flashing function - the hazard switch.

My car - 1976 W115 300D started exhibiting turn signal issues this
morning. The lights flash way too fast. I would normally think a bulb
had gone bad but all appear to light which makes me think there is a bad
ground somewhere.
If it were you, where would you start looking?

Very serviceable. You will need a small file and some care. Unscrew
the stalk from the steering shaft. Figure out which end is not
holding, and then very carefully file the thing a bit deeper until
the stalk stays, but is not trapped there. Did it with Gump and she
is fine now

There is a rather straightforward procedure to remove the stalk and file the
detent with a small triangular file to regain the "hold", but as I haven't

R A, the fix is to remove the stalk and using a small rattail file file
out the 'notch' that holds the stalk in the up position.

My 76 300D has an issue with the turn signal stalk. If I want to turn left, it
works as it should. If I want to
turn right, I have to hold the lever up as it wants to drop back to the center
position. Is this adjustable in some
manner if I were to pull the wheel or is it a sign that something is
