It looks like this but off hand I have no idea what the size is. You will see
here that the range of adjustment is
fairly small. Don't know if it is essentially the same shaft and just different
cutters

Randy,
If it's a king pin reamer then it's adjustable. I just need to know
what the adjustment range is.

(expensive!!) news if true...
A worn out steering knuckle explains the banging through the steering
column. Not TOO expensive...

Peter, thank you in particular for your thorough reply.
Can W108 steering coupling bushings be replaced without removing the coupling
from its home? I stuck my head under there and I see that it is the original
type with the clips. Looks as though it MIGHT be possible to get in there with

That was common in Europe. Performance is about the same between the
six and the turbo 617, loggy compared to the 4.5. It will drop right
in, but you need a different length front driveshaft, I think.

Thank you one and all for your replies re: the nightmare W108. I will keep you
all abreast of developments. On the bright side, at least rust isn't on the
list of issues. This is a major novelty for a Canadian.
Just out of curiosity, has anyone ever put a 617 in a W108? Since it fit in the
