There are tons of W123 coupes that suddenly sprung up on the Pelican Parts “for
sale” forum:

I lusted for years for one. Got CD h then one year later big tree limb
came down on it during blizzard. Ins Co valued it @ 13k plus- three times
what I had in it & restored it.
All it needs now is some tranny work.

Sorry about that - I just get a summary in the morning, and saw all the subject
lines. Never occurred to me that someone was spamming the for sale forum for a
coupe.
Duh.
I’ll look more closely next time…

If I ever come across the right one, I seriously want a W123 coupe myself.
Unfortunately they are getting far rarer in the shape to make them worthy
of investment.

Unfortunately, not. A user is hardcore looking for a coupe. He has revived
every single CD thread with a post of "If you didn't sell it, PM me." One
of them is from Jan of 2014. :( Too bad.

That's the point. They are still too common to make it worth the cost of a
full restoration. My ex SWMBO has a beautiful diamond blue/blue leather
'85 300CD that was a little rusty but with a very nice interior. To make
it perfect would have meant repaint + body work, plus it had 200K miles.
Which means, now no one can tell how dead any of these threads were. *sigh*
Then, he posted his own "Looking for Coupe" thread, which is what he should
have done in the first place.
