There is actually more power around the 13:1 zone, which is smoky. But the
egt is super high, so the duty cycle has to be low. That's why Audi had a
high afr for their endurance cars, but the drag racing guys can get by with
lots of smoke. The smart and conservative way to do it for reliability is
There are cases where a little more is better. TDIs in the US tend to be
de-tuned. A quick reprogram can add 15-20% more power with no downside. I think
the same is true with p-pump Cummins but once there's much smoke you're just
wasting fuel...

Well, I'll add a little of what I know second hand from my BIL who drove diesel
trucks as a business for over 40 years, now retired. In the early days, you
could slightly increase the fuel and get more power, plus more smoke. But, the
new trucks are computer controlled, so the computer
It’s interesting, as now that I think about it I rarely see them around here
any more. I don’t know if there have been laws passed, but then again, most of
these idiots don’t live close to me, so I’m not around their stomping grounds.
Just as well.

I find it strange that here in the people's republic we haven't outlawed
stacks on pickup trucks. Theres some fool in town that has one that must be 6",

I wonder what happens to the water that falls in it?

On a spiritual level these FB idiots offend me. Probably because I might be
cut from the same cloth as Pierre Hedary, though he is a much younger and far
more technically blessed man than I. I can see allowing the idiots to defile
as many of these cars as possible, on the off chance that
Fuel without air just makes soot.
Which doesn't make more power, and does waste money (fuel ain't cheap), and
does reduce the life of the engine.
Then there's the whole pollution thing, which the younger generation blames us
for making them inherit a polluted planet.
Is that enough reason to
I contemplated considering my ban on become part of the faceplant zombies just
to marvel at the idiocy of the 123 group, but can not see how I would be able
to keep my trap shut long enough to not be summarily banned.

Screwing with the fuel delivery to make tons of smoke gets a person a $500 fine

This was helped along by the fact that on American diesel truck engines, it's
possible to inject past BDC on the power stroke,
I think you nailed it, Mitch. Thank you!
I’m especially sensitive to the “rolling coal” crap, as I worked at a high
school in a rural area and there were so many high school kids with diesel
trucks with the IPs cranked up to do this. It was their middle finger to “the

Jaime,
I don’t see it as having anything to do with the cost. There appear to be a
fair number of young people (younger than you) in the group who enjoy “builds”

It’s in a messenger chat that I was for some reason included in. Myself and
Poos have been giving the same kind of advice and I do not think we are
condescending as they say. They do not seem to want to hear anything that does
not agree with what they think they already know. This is evident
Hold on now... you're saying there are posts on that group complaining
about certain people? I don't see that, so am I to assume that I'm one of
them?
Is the moderator really allowing a post hidden from certain members so they
can be talked about? Or is this via messenger?

It seems like I have been banned too. I have been running lists for many years
as have you and usually you give warnings to people who you think are out of
line. If it continues and you ban them, you inform them. Just banning somebody

advocate behaviors that are inappropriate. Allowing it is just that, an
implicit approval of the behavior. What a shame.
