While I would never own a Mercedes hybrid short of someone gifting me one, the concept does work well in my opinion. I've driven several midsize Ford hybrids for several weeks at a time and found them to be very efficient. For a “Point A to Point B” sort of car, I could see it, just not a highly

Oh -- re-reading what you wrote, you were talking about storing the batteries themselves. Yeah they need to be charged to 70-80% and kept from freezing. For long term storage they might need some kind of battery-minder attached? On Fri, Oct 27, 2023, at 11:59, Allan Streib via Mercedes wrote:

As I understand it, they store pretty well but ideally they are at about 70-80% charge for storage, not full charge. And you can't let them freeze. I think they will keep themselves warm if needed but that uses power. So if you have winter, you need a garage, and maybe a heated one at that, or p

There’s a guy in Orlando on FBM who sells a lot of parts, and he had a brand new, still-in-the-crate, OE batteries for one of these a while back. I think he wanted $3k-$4k for it, something like that. If it was NOS, I wonder how well those things handle being stored. -D > On Oct 27, 2023, at 1
