I assumed it was cheaper. Would seem to be less labor to put down fewer big
sheets of metal vs. a lot of smaller asphalt shingles, but maybe more skill is
required.

They’re not uncommon in FL, and the times I’ve seen them being installed the
pieces are either extruded onsite or bought in bulk lengths and cut on-site.
I’m sure the cost is also affected by the complexity of the roof as well. My AZ
house would be pretty straightforward, as it’s a 1970s “L”-sha

steep roofs they have a lot of different angles. For this house I would almost

On a nice day in May or early June, roofing is a fine job that reminds you of
all the good things in the world. It's hard work but it makes you sleep soundly
and lets you eat hearty.
In July/August/September when it's hot and humid, roofing is something akin to
hell.

If you have Amish around get them to price you a metal roof.
We don't have them so the MA house got architectural shingles. They're fine and
have a warranty long enough that I don't expect to ever replace them.
They're around the place in Maine so in a couple years we'll have them put on a
roof
When we did the roof in MA they wanted something like 4x for a metal roof.
When my aunt had the roof done on grandmother's house it was a pittance more
expensive to go with metal. The difference was having the Amish do it. They
only do metal roofs and a equipped to do it efficiently.

The ones in northern Indiana did roofing, at least they did commercial work,
like farm sheds/buildings.
