I have been storing antique cars for many winters & never heard that. I
change oil in my CD when I fire it up in the spring.

Get it good and hot, park it where it’s going to be, then start the “pickling”
process of taping off or blocking openings, things like that.

Maybe to reduce any water content to a minimum? Though to be honest I've never
heard of this recommendation. I don't think any particular prep is needed for
storing a diesel for a few months over the winter other than a full fuel tank
to avoid algae growth and maybe a battery tender to keep the
