That stuff is a solvent. I was thinking to see if it might solve the problem, but since the break is a butt joint, I'm not sure it would have enough strength. I might go with and epoxy soda can fix, see if that holds up. --R On 11/8/11 12:16 AM, kevin kraly wrote: I wonder how well PVC

I might go with an epoxy soda can fix, see if that holds up. Epoxy does not flex, if the body is subject to the same kind of forces that flexed, and then broke, it before it'll do it again. Shoe Goo is strong and flexible. With a splint (sanded metal) giving it gripping area it's unstoppable!

Somehow or other my wife managed to break the main casting of the Dyson vac she bought a coupla years ago for too much money. Broke it right across the whole thing. I'm not sure how it happened, or could happen, but she said something about the steps and it came apart or something.

Get 2 part plastic 5 minute epoxy. Also get some 80 grit sandpaper and some saran wrap. Sand the edges of the break to roughen them up, mix the epoxy, then spread out over the break. Use the saran wrap to press it into the break, and spread it out. Once it starts to harden, peel the saran wrap

Hoover 33s, if you can find one, will last forever. You can now buy hypoallergenic bags for them. I think any Pre-1980 Hoover is good. I say all new vacuums are garbage. I have a house that I rent to college students and every year the new group/s buy a new vacuum or two, including Dysons.
