I probably won't be soldering any capacitors. The ambient air temp gauge is
shot and the clock doesn't work. Seems like some gauge shop ought to be
able to make things right.

So this 95 I started driving has its oil light come on for several miles when
first started then goes off after a while and does not come back on.

I have repaired a low-oil board before:

I've seen both digital and analog boards. The bad one
was digital, the problem was a bad solder joint. No big
capacitors involved in the timing at all on that one.

Nope. However, I was driving through an area east of Tampa that contains a
great many “gentlemen’s clubs”.

Were you driving by "a government agency" on I-95 just north of DC near
Columbia MD by any chance?

I had one that was even weirder.
In the 1994 S420, the low oil light would come on at a certain point on the
highway that I drove home on and then go out at another point. That is, I
could actually fix a location on this particular road where the light would
come on as well as a location where
I wonder what the delay is on my 1997 S420?
When it's a bit low, I get on the freeway (about five miles from home) and the
light comes on within the first mile.
Then the oil gets warmer over the next five miles or so, presumably returns to
the pan faster, and the light goes out. I go home, add
I need to know about this also, I have the same issue. I need to fix my clock
as well

IIRC, neither. You can replace the capacitors in the circuit and restore
proper operation.

Oil light started coming on going around corners. 1987 300tdt with the
cluster from the ex-Wilton mobile. I hear this has something to do with the
timer circuits going bad, so the intended 30 sec delay between oil level
going low and light coming on becomes no delay. Newer clusters supposedly
