On my OM 517 engine I tested the glow plugs. No preglow indicater light.
The Manual calls for 8 - 15 A per plug.
I measured the resistance at the 6-pin connector:
#1 indicates open,
#2 - 5 measure 95 Ohm each
13V / 95 Ohm = 0.14 A (1/10th of spec)
What am I doing wrong?

Last week I installed a new battery and since than the pump for the central
locking system does not come on. When I had a vac. leak and the pump timed
out, I reset it by momentarily disconnecting the #13 fuse.
Does not work this time.

Bought the '82 in '94 for $ 2,500. Huge investment.
1 motor (entirely my fault), 1 tranny + misc. repairs later (starter,
steering and suspension, A/C, etc.) I now have less than maybe $ 8,000 in
it.
That boils down to $ 500/year or 2 months worth of car payments/year for a
daily driver.

I keep is set to auto which I bleive selects speeds 2-3-4.
You are correct; it must be some intermittend problem because there were
times when the blower wouldn't come on at all for a while.
What do you know about replacements. I see there is a bare motor available
for ~$ 80 and a complete unit
Seems I am due for a heater blower replacement. I see there is a bare motor
available for ~$ 80 and a complete unit with fan for ~ $ 250.
Somehow I recall hearing it is difficult/tricky to transfer the fan wheel.
Anyone with experiences?

I swapped out the temperature wheel on the ACC PB unit (SWMBO's 300CD).
Fom that point the blower ran normally. The solder on the temp. wheel had
a
hairline crack.

I tried that.
The pad disintegrated after a year or so.
The glue bead is still there.
Maybe the pad was 30 years old in the box.
Car runs fine without.

Fan ramps up and down with temp. setting.
Took the old unit apart: some ssolenoid contacts burned, some coils
discolored.
