Am I interpreting this thread correctly? That more factoring is
needed? My climb up the LL top producers is starting to stall
so maybe it's time to switch to factoring.

Based on info in recent threads I upgraded from v20 to v21 on my
PIII 866MHz Win2K machine. I was already part way thru double
checking 7054693 and the change reduced my days-to-go from 8.1 to 6.0.
Nice improvement! 8xx on the Top Producers list is in sight...

a personal milestone; I finally broke thru the 1000 barrier and

I'm contemplating getting a Apple, probably an IMac. I think
I've seen Gimps for the Apple, am I right? How well does an
Apple running Gimps compare to a Pentium/Win* combination?

I just up(?)graded from NT4 to Win2000. In the old NT4 screen
saver selections was a "Blank Screen" option that I used. It
would blank the screen when it locked my keyboard but it didn't
run any active screen program that would take cycles from
Prime95. Under W2K I don't have any Blank Screen op

I was just thinking that screen savers perform 2 functions;
1. The flashy display and
2. Locking the keyboard with a pw.
The second is more important and must be included otherwise it
will not be able to be used instead of the system lock.

Idea for a screensaver for Prime95, let the user specify a
directory of picture files and Prime would pick one to display
every few minutes. Decoding a JPG or GIF would suck up some
cycles but between picture updates Prime would get them all.

I just met a personal GIMPS objective; I just broke into the top 2000
(I'm #1993 at the moment). I only started last fall. The last couple
of jumps up the ladder have been getting smaller and smaller so I'm not
confident of ever making the top 1000.

I've got another odd, Prime95 related, problem on 1 of the 3 pcs I'm
running GIMPS on. The machine is a 450MHz PII with 256Meg running win98
and nothing else 99.9% of the time. It is doing double checking of
exponent 4777027. It starts off with an iteration time of about .13
seconds. After abou

done beecause the original LL run was suspect?

I've got my friend's 450MHz PII Aptiva with 256Meg ram running Prime95
under Win98. I'm seeing minor interference on the display when Prime is
running. If I stop Prime the interference stops. Not much else is
running 99% of the time so it's an ideal GIMPS machine but I'm bothered
by the affect
I'm looking at rhe Aasigned Exponent Report for the first time.
It says it's 5 Feb 2000 23:02 (5 Feb 2000 4.02pm Pacific).
The 23:02 is ok for UTC time but the local time should be 3:02pm for
Pacific.

What is a 'Primenet error 12031'? I get it when attempting to contact
the PrimeNet Server after dialing into my ISP. The error msg says to
see the FAQ but it doesn't list this error message.
The error doesn't happen all the time but I have seen it more than once.
