When I check the opensockets(), I will get something like:

Hi all
I just received a report from user that he has problems starting a
Metacard standalone. He is using Windows NT 4.0. When he
double-clicks the exe file, apparently nothing happens. He emphasised
"nothing". No program starts, no error message, and no activity is
registered in the Task Ma
Have you tried using HTML entity codes? It might work - seems like I had
to do that one time. W3C's list of HTML 4 codes is at:

somebody might have an answer for: can I use a special font or some other
means to get "special" characters to display correctly on both Mac and Win
platforms?
Characters such as the umlaut (sp?) "u" with 2 dots above it are

If anyone is interested, the current "Utility Infielder" monthly column

Not correct: this is true if you use a player object, but not if you
use the older "play audioClip" syntax, which still uses the native
audio API call
Hi there,
starting with version 2.3, MC is using Quicktime to play sounds and videos
on Mac AND Win.
Unfortunately, because of that fact, the playloudness does't work anymore on
WIN (Mac works).
I am SURE, this is on top of the todo-list at the MC corp.
Isn't it, Scott?

I just noticed the following info on Macromedia releasing SDK stuff
for Flash at the FlashForward 2000 promotion.
I assume this might be useful for future MetaCard support planning.

The playLoudness on my new Win 2.3 doesn't seem to work. Even when two lines are
executed
set the playLoudness to 50
