After over 40 years in the resale business I can think of quite a few scenarios
that might lead to a sale like this. Theft is a possibility that should always
be looked at but in this case seems unlikely. There are certainly people out
there worthy of Darwin Awards that would try to sell stolen
The "real" meteorite hunters like to keep things as quiet as possible. Can't
have all these inexperienced yahoos out in the field bothering the residents
and ruining the recovery effort.
It's all about the science you know :P

The possibility of viewing a meteor storm is exciting, accented by the fact
that it's a one time only deal. My observation station is set up. Lawn chair,
beverage table, mosquito spray, etc. High hopes for an extreme light show but
any appearance will be rewarding!

If you look at all the regulatory horrors that have been heaped on us over the
last 40 years in every aspect of our lives, this seems incidental. The last
stand, our real estate, has been stripped of it's value erasing generations of
work. It isn't surprising that meteorites are being eyeballed
