flow lines on the bottom.

All,
I am sure this one has been already been answered; if so, please send me to
good source
(hopefully difinitive) that I might educate myself.
There seems to be conflicting 'reads' on these two meteorites:
Campo del Cielo, Argentina
Las Palmas, Argentina
Are they possibly from the same fall,
Hi Jonathan,
I've been told that Las Palmas is different than Campo. I don't know
about the third iron you mentioned. But, Las Palmas has not been
classified or approved yet, so nothing is official yet. The source
that told me is on this list.

There is a new stamp of the Campo del Cielo meteorites.
The block has a stamp of the Chaco meteorite, the main mass of Campo

Fall.
The most amazing thing about this stamp is that the Chaco photo is IN 3-

Hello Sara and List,
I am trying to evaluate the total recovered weight for this meteorite.
In Grady's catalogue (page 126), the addition of the numerous masses
gives a total of 45 tonnes (approximately). The 37 tonnes that Robert

Dr. Buono,
I have to agree that your plea for assistance is justified.
Thieves that stole a 6,000 kilo meteorite (13.2 tons) on April9/10 and
left a concrete replica are no ordinary thieves!
The Argentine police are probably no match for this type of criminal.

Hello,
In agreement with the expressed by Mr. Michael Farmer, in a lot of
meteorites from Campo del Cielo he found a new chondrite named Pitino. On
this matter I have two observations:
1) There is no city or geographic reference with that name in Argentina. In

Hey Mike,
Don't worry too much about the name. Heck, it might just as well have
been named Mike's Chondrite, which would be consistent with the NomCom's
acceptance of the name Joel's Iron from Chile.

Hi List,
On hindsight, it seems Joel's Iron was never submitted to the NomCom
since it was found in 1858, but it was studied by Buchwald, and later by
Wasson Canut de Bon, which establishes this name as authoritative just
the same.

Hey Mike,
Sorry to disappoint you, but Joel's Iron was named long before there was a
NomCom. This name would indeed violate the modern Guidelines for Meteorite
Nomenclature had it been found recently. There are other meteorites with
similar grandfathered names, e.g.. Lutschaunig's Stone, Holland's
