Humm, I did not realize that is what they were doing and that would explain why the specimen is off center. It was centered when the 1x3 inch was made and then they cut it. But even then cutting a 1 x 3 inch slide does not make it even close to standard, 1 13/16" x 1 1/16" x .062" And this is b

Steve, Yep I have noticed this too, 'Half size slides' seem to go for a similar price to full size ones, so you can see exactly why they do it. It seems to me that people are getting 'proper size slides' and cutting them in half then re-mounting them. - Fair enough I suppose, but as you say the
