Hi Mike, Jason, and List,
Apart from all the close matches and plots, I can definitely say that my
Tafassasset thin section (that I purchased from Mr. Alain Weissler at the
Ensisheim Show in 2004) does *not* look like a CR chondrite but rather like
a primitive achondrite in cross-polarized light.

Hello List!
Was wondering if there was any new information available, including new
research results, on Tafassasset.
I was fortunate in aquiering a nice slice and am now curious on where this
meteortie stands. The met. base still gives this a dual listing of both a

Hello,
I have it recorded that the find location, perhaps the coordinates, of
Tafassasset were supposed to be released last month, six years after the
original find in February 2000. Does anyone have any information on
this? I would think list member Anne Black might be a likely source of

Hello,
Last night I posted this, but I don't think it made it through, so here it is again. (And if it did get posted, I am sorry I repeat myself).

I have a small slice of this meteorite in my collection. It has to be one
of the weirdest meteorites I have yet looked at, and I suspect it may
require a classification all its own. It is so remelted, recrystallized
and deformed I find it hard to believe it may be related to the CR type,
yet I

Hi Matteo, hi List,
Grein 004 as well as Tenere 001 are just synonyms for the
Tafassasset Freiburg mass, a single stone weighing 3610 grams.
It's no pairing. Just to avoid further confusion...
