Just doing WDS doesn't halve your bandwidth, but each repetition does.

To make this clear... As long as it's a point to multipoint connection
and none of the client sides don't send traffic to other wireless
points, there is no bandwidth difference except for broadcasts, which go
everywhere. WDS with modern (g,n,a) would be a good thing

WDS only cuts the bandwidth in half if you're using it as a wireless
repeater.
Station WDS also enables the transparent bridge capability. I think if
you configure the MT with WDS, the Tranzeo will still connect as a
regular station (Tranzeo does not have a "staion WDS mode").

Looks to me like the only solution is to replace it. And the Tranzeo
has been working for years, too...

802.11 assumed that you would have a AP and CPE. That the CPE would be a
singular device, thus, only 1 MAC address. Then people made ethernet CPE. They
had to use Proxy ARP to allow more then 1 device live on the ethernet port. Then
people wanted a true bridge, and at the ame time people wanted on
