6.46.6

Absolutely.
The biggest changes I recall are the rework of the bridge/switch system
which could change your config dramatically, but you should be able to
clearly see this in the config.

What differences exactly? What's the diff say?
What does an upgrade have to do with this? Why can't you just upgrade?

I think you're asking if your setup scripts (either hand-coded or exported)
from pre-6.42 routers will import on post-6.42 routers. Depending on what
features you u
Mikrotik has been know to make change to the syntax, so the new make
look different that the old.
I have upgraded 100s of units from as low as 4.15 incrementally to
6.42.8 without losing anything. Not that they have much, but upgrades
just work.

We have a number of devices to upgrade from 6.35 to 6.42. In testing the
upgrade in a lab, I'm finding many discrepancies in the "export" output.
The steps I took were:
(On the production router) export file=prod-config
- set up an identical spare router on the same RoS as the prod router
