I am considering the purchase of a Dell Precision M4800 laptop with the intention of installing OpenBSD on it. Has anyone here ran OBSD on one of these? I will configure it with an AMD FirePro M5100. Google has fail to find anyone who has tried this. Thanks Ray

Hi Ray, I haven't used a Dell Precision M4800 with OBSD yet, but I found that under PCBSD it should work. Given OBSD has very good laptop support I believe everything should be detected. I have included a link to the PCBSD site where I found the your laptop listed.

I would like to believe that, but OEMs are constantly changing hardware. Since everyone runs Windows, all they have to do is make sure the new frotzel works, and ship it. Over time, the parts that don't work will likely get drivers, but if you need a laptop that just runs right now, I would find
