system directory. I know that a system directory contains resources for the user, but, just for curiosity, what is the origin of this directory name? A user place o a unix system place? Thanks. Harrell

Well, after much testing I've found that the problem is the pcn(4) network driver. As I told you in the dmesg I was using VMware, specifically the ESX. I found that when I used heavily the network (such as a long "ls" from the shell), the output just freezes even with a listing of 1000 directories

Yes. I have upgraded this machine from Ubuntu 6.10 to 7.04. DNS's, IP addresses, gateways and firewalls are the same. I've been using this machine for ssh to my OpenBSD machines for a long time with this network configuration. Since I upgraded this machine I can ssh to some Linux in which I have l

Share a LUN

2009-02-20 Thread Harrell
Hi list, I would like to access to the data in a LUN (exported from a SAN) from more than one web server. I am planning to connect by a fiber card one OpenBSD server to that LUN and offer this data to the web servers by a NFS share. But I that single NFS host dies, all the web servers stop access

File system limit for number of files in a directory?

2009-09-25 Thread Harrell
Hi list, Is there any limit in the number of files that I can put in a directory? I know that the number of inodes is a limit for the whole file system, but I don't know if there's another limit for directories inside a file system. Thanks in advance! joakinen
